CAPTION
We just came back from Jiyoon's swimming competition this afternoon. It was an event for all International Schools in Malaysia, and had participants from 8 schools in Kuala Lumpur and 2 schools from Penang. Our good friends in Penang, Jens and Su Hee had their two boys Simon and Martin there as well.
Jiyoon participated for Garden School in the 100m backstroke, 100m butterfly, 50m butterfly, and participated in two relays (4 x 50m freestyle and 4 x 50m medley where Jiyoon swam butterfly again). It went well even if though the team is dominated by two star swimmers, Hannah and Zarhara. Jiyoon won a bronze medal in her individual 100m backstroke, and with the team a silver medal in the freestyle medley and a gold in the relay. Both she and the parents are very proud after a long day, and surely, Jiyoon will have a good night's sleep.

CAPTIONHere is a picture of the bronze medal, which Jiyoon somehow is most proud of, because as she says, it is entirely her own effort. She was actually only a few centimeters from winning a silver medal.
So this evening we celebrated. We went down to the new restaurant which has opened a few days ago here in Damai, and had a nice dinner with the kids. So now after a long day we are all pretty tired.

Elvie and the kids
Hi there.
Now I am getting a real hard time for not updating the site. So I have downloaded some new software which enables be to organise the updates a little more easily. I hope this helps a bit. I will not give you a big update on what has happened since the last entry, but only write small stories on what is currently happening here in Malaysia.
Well, most recent change has been our new maid Elvira (Elvie for short), who joined our family about a week ago. Until earlier arrangements where we had gotten our maid from local contacts and where it turned out the working papers were not fully in order, this time we have taken contact to a proper agency and obtained the necessary licenses etc. However since my working permit only were renewed after the summer vacation, we could only finalize when we had this in place. I believe it is a great relief for In Ju in particular. The kids really like her, and I guess Viktor being less constantly busy with homeworkd has had more time to form ties with Elvie.
The Birthday Party Girls Otherwise, we have celebrated Jiyoons 11th birthday, this year inviting 5 other girls going out for ice skating (in Malaysia, yes), for toenail painting and foot massage, dinner and aftewards sleep over. It was a success for both Jiyoon and her guests. They stayed awake chatting until 2 am in the morning.. Here is the birthday party after skating.
Louise, Hans Jørgen and all the kids We have also had my brother Hans Jørgen and his family visiting Malaysia, which was really nice for all of us. Jiyoon and Viktor had missed the Denmark family since our summer holiday, and it was a nice occasion for them to meet up again and play together. Unfortunately, they came at the time where the yearly haze from forest fires in Indonesia was at its worse, and the air was bordering to being unhealthy, from Kuala Lumpur and all the way south. Fortunately Langkawi was fine went they went there. Instead of going straigh back to Kuala Lumpur after Langkawi, we decided that In Ju and the kids met up with HJ's family in Penang for a few days. Finally the haze cleared in KL and we were all back together in KL. I had the sad task to work on HD exams, which disabled me to be a very good host. The picture is from Batu Caves in KL where you have to walk up about 250 steps to reach a Indian temple in the Cave. Viktor thinks he can fly up there as Spiderman...
Now we are looking forward to the next batch of guests, being my sister Jenni and her two kids here at Christmas time.

Hi out there, we are still alive (believe it or not)!!!
Actually, when I started this website project I wanted to create a kind of blog where I would very often provide updates on what we are doing and thinking on a day to day level more or less. Well, as you well know, the reality is a far cry from the original ambition level. In retrospect my high degree of motivation was more towards designing the site, building it up to what it is today, playing around with the design, adding the picture gallery etc. Making several input every week has not been done, and I have to admit my work is also part of the reason. Now I have started to receive complaints on why the site has no new contributions so it is time now to do something about it.
So what have we been doing for the past 3 months? Pretty much what we normally do, going to work, take care of the kids, the kids going to school and travelling for Dako. Let me try to give an account for each of us:

Jiyoon: She is now doing math and English tuition at home twice a week, and Korean once a week. She is also having piano lessons, which she (and I) are very fond of. The she has joined a Golf Academy for Teens and preteens, which is 3 hours every Sunday so she should be progressing quickly, allowing the two of us one sunny day to play golf together. She has been taking swimming lessons for a while now, but she has now joined the school swimming team (The Dragons) and has even participated in one swimming competition against the other British School here in KL, the Alice Smith school, which the Garden school won quite clearly. Otherwise the class has had exams for year 6 which starts after the summer vacation, 1st Sept. Jiyoon is looking forward to seeing the family when we go to Denmark for vacation this summer.

Viktor: Viktor is very fond of his kindergarden and his friends there, who often come home and play with him. When we left Denmark 2 years ago, he could not speak any languages, that developed slowly in Malaysia, and mostly speaking Danish. After he attended kindergarden his English is much stronger, and it is difficult to keep up his Danish. He speaks 80% English and 20% Danish now, but he understands what I am saying. I am sure the holidays in Denmark will give him a boost in Danish again. He will start in Garden International School after the holiday break in kindergarden there and will be on same grounds as Jiyoon then. Otherwise he is still a very happy boy giving much enjoyment for his Mom. He and Jiyoon are attending some Chinese course after School to slowly learn Mandarin. He also attends Enopi, a simple Korean Math education program for his age group, which he likes very much.

In Ju: I guess In Ju's life is still pretty much the same, take so good care of all of us. A lot of her time is spent driving the kids around town for all their activities, taking care of the house, and occasionally to meet up with other Korean and local mothers. She is regularly attending her Yoga classes to keep her body fit, mainly in the morning hours when both kids are in school and before the daily driving race starts. She had her teeth fixed at our local dentist. She definately misses her Mom, and hopes she can visit us here in Malaysia some sunny day.

Morten: Since the new year and since there were an organisational change in Dako, I have even been more busy at work, which also has prevented me of updating this site as regularly as I wanted to. The changes, although quite dramatic to say goodbye to my old colleagues, has proven to be an improvement for all. I had to take care of China and India on top of my own markets for a period of time until we got a new colleague in place, who joined 1st April, and where the hand over will be fully completed here 1st July. So I have been busy with a lot of travelling and many meetings too. In August I will be joined by a Dako colleague of mine from Croatia, Zoran, and his family. They are going to live in one of the neighboring condominiums and their son Boris will attend same school as Jiyoon. It will be nice with some additional company at the office. Otherwise I have tried to play as much golf as possible, but apart from the increase travel a sudden acute back pain has kept me away from the course. Now I just had a wisdom tooth removed and have a very swollen cheek (look like half Dizzie Gillespie...)

Otherwise, we look so much forward to our summer holidays in Denmark soon and visiting both friends and family. Later on in October we will have my brother Hans Jorgen and his family visiting us, and at Christmas my sister Jenni and her kids. I hope my father will also manage to come and visit us soon while it is still possible for him to take a long trip like this to Malaysia. I will upload some pictures on the Gallery real soon as I have quite a few since the last update which could be nice to show. Thanks to all for your patience.
